The XPander Heat Detectors XPander Heat Detectors are a pair of wireless heat detection devices designed for diverse operating conditions. The range includes:
Static Heat Detector (CS): Triggers when a fixed temperature is reached.
Rate-of-Rise Detector (A1R): Monitors both a fixed upper temperature limit and the rate at which the temperature rises, allowing earlier detection of rapidly developing fires.
Operation
Both detectors feature an open-web casing, enabling free airflow over a thermistor that measures the air temperature every 2 seconds. A microprocessor stores these readings and compares them with preset alarm thresholds. Rate-of-rise detectors additionally use algorithms to evaluate how quickly the temperature is increasing, providing earlier alerts in environments where a sudden temperature rise indicates fire. Static heat detectors respond only once the fixed threshold is reached. Rate-of-rise detectors are particularly useful in areas without frequent rapid temperature fluctuations, whereas static detectors are suitable for environments like boiler rooms where temperatures may change quickly as part of normal operations.
Key Features

Suited to environments that are dirty or smoky under normal conditions
CS detectors recommended for areas with rapid temperature fluctuations
Bi-directional monitored radio platform ensures reliability
Five-year battery life using standard AA alkaline batteries
